Most of the airport-pickup runs sit between $150 and $211 per person, and one charter is quoted per group for up to three travellers. Food and attraction admission are excluded from all of them.

Yes. One operator reports its eight-hour run being booked 25 days ahead on average and another 12 days, and these are private cars with one driver each rather than a coach with spare seats. Book as soon as your connection is confirmed — free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start covers you on all but one listing.

Every listing confirms at the time of booking. Several then ask for passenger details for the travel insurance the operator provides: your name exactly as printed in your passport, the passport number, its expiry date and your nationality. Have those to hand, because the operator cannot complete the paperwork without them.

Every listing but one refunds in full if you cancel more than 24 hours before the start. One states 24 hours in its cancellation panel and 14 days in its own information block, so read that product's terms on the booking page before you pay. Cancelling inside 24 hours is not refunded on any of them.

All of them are private. Every listing states that only your party travels, which is what makes a fixed return time possible: there is nobody else's pickup to wait for and nobody else's flight to work around. It is also why the fares are quoted per person rather than per seat on a coach.

A tour beginning at four in the afternoon reaches Huaxi Street or Ningxia after dark, which is when those streets are worth walking. The temples and the observatory keep their own hours regardless.

One listing is priced per group rather than per person, covering up to three travellers in a chartered car for five to eight hours. The rest quote per person and several note that the rate varies by group size, so two or three travellers pay less a head than a solo one. Check the price shown for your party size before comparing.

Every airport-pickup itinerary here books 50 minutes each way by road, so a six-hour tour buys four hours in the city and a four-hour tour buys two. Add the time you need for immigration on arrival and for check-in on departure, and the honest floor is a connection of around seven hours.

By road the operators budget 50 minutes each way, and they write it into their own itineraries as a stop. By train the Airport MRT express covers Terminal 1 to Taipei Main Station in 35 minutes, and the commuter service in 49. The road figure is the one to plan around if a car is collecting you, because it already allows for traffic.

Only just, and only with a car meeting you at arrivals. The one four-hour product here spends 50 minutes getting in and 50 getting back, which leaves two hours for a temple and a night market. If your connection is under six hours in total, the terminal is the calmer choice.

Four stops, at roughly an hour each. The published six-hour routes take Taipei 101, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Longshan Temple and Dihua Street, which covers the skyline, the ceremonial heart of the city, its oldest temple and its oldest trading street. Two of those four are free to enter.

Work backwards from three hours before your onward departure and everything else follows. That is the figure the in-town airline check-in desks at Taipei Main Station use as their own cut-off, and it leaves room for the 50-minute road run plus security. Your driver-guide will hold you to it.

Check your own passport against the list published by Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs before you count on it. If you are staying airside, no permission of any kind is needed.

It replaced the paper arrival card on 1 October 2025 and every foreign visitor entering on a visa exemption has to complete it. It is free, it is filled in online at the immigration agency's own portal, and it can be submitted up to seven days before you arrive. Nothing has to be shown at the desk: the officer's passport scan pulls the record.

No. The immigration agency has published its own warning that any site charging a fee for it is not the government's. The official portal is twac.immigration.gov.tw and the form costs nothing.

Not if they are checked through to your final destination, which is the usual arrangement on a single ticket. If your bags are tagged only to Taipei, you collect them, clear customs and re-check them for the onward flight, and that adds an hour you have not budgeted. Confirm which it is at your first check-in desk.

On a car tour it rides in the vehicle between stops, which is one of the real differences a private car buys. Two of the listings here run on foot and by train instead, so anything you carry, you carry all day. Both terminals at Taoyuan have baggage lockers and a staffed left-luggage counter if you would rather travel empty-handed.

Allow 30 to 45 minutes from the aerobridge to the arrivals hall, more if several long-haul aircraft land together. Completing the Taiwan Arrival Card before you fly removes the form-filling from that queue. Your driver-guide waits in the arrivals hall, so the clock on the tour starts when you walk out rather than when you land.

It depends on the operator, and the difference matters at six in the morning. One waits in front of the Tourist Service Center counter in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, holding a card with the lead traveller's name. Another waits at the terminal exit in a company uniform, then walks you to a shuttle bus to the car park before the drive begins.

Carry cash. Three of the operators tell travellers so in their own booking notes, and night market stalls, temple offerings and small food counters are cash businesses. Cards work in department stores, the observatory and chain restaurants, and there are ATMs in both terminals at Taoyuan.

The observatory on floors 88 and 89 is NT$600 for an adult, with the 101st-floor outdoor deck priced separately, and it is open from 10 in the morning until 9 at night. Plenty of itineraries treat the tower as a photograph from the plaza instead, which costs nothing.

Yes, and so is the park around it. The hall itself opens from 9 until 6 and the surrounding memorial park from 5 in the morning until midnight. The changing of the honour guard runs hourly on the hour from 9 until 5, takes about fifteen minutes, and is cancelled when it rains.

Plenty still works. The temples, Dihua Street's arcades, the memorial hall's exhibit floor and the night markets under their awnings are all usable wet, and the operators' own notes tell travellers to bring a raincoat rather than to rebook. What rain does take away is the observatory view and the outdoor guard ceremony.

Solo travellers describe these runs as the calmest part of a long journey, and several say so specifically. You are met by name inside the terminal, you travel in a private vehicle or with one host, and you are returned to departures by a driver whose job is the clock.
